Unhappy Screen/Font Settings

I am running an application on Windows XP Pro. The screen and font settings are fine.

I need to make sure that my font and screen settings are the same under my Linux Red Hat Enterprise 3 (ES) server.

1) How can I check/validate my screen size (width/height) + font settings on my Linux box are the same as my Windows XP box ?

The font rendering in Windows is different from linux, so even if you are using the same font at the same size, sometimes they can appear to be slightly different.
