Question sbc dsl 2wire 1000w homeportal installation

I just got the 2wire 1000w homeportal in the mail, and my dsl will be turned on in about a week. In the installation instructions for the portal, there is a computer 1, in which the software provided with the portal is supposed to be installed (should be windows or a mac - but mac is now unix with a sexy face). After this computer 1 is installed, then I am told I can add linux boxes to my home network. The problem is that I want the linux box to be computer 1. So, what should I do?

I'm running mandrake 9.1, with at least 2 hours of experience

Thanks!
Mike

Hey, I also have the 2Wire/SBC setup and when I reinstalled windows and installed the drivers alone (w/o the 2Wire program), I had no problems connecting. This tells me that as long as the right drivers are connected and you don't care about using their interface to get to the 'homeportal' page, it doesn't matter what OS you're using. However, since I'm still trying to install Linux, I obviously haven't been able to get it to work yet... I was trying RH 7.0 and was told to upgrade to see if I could get the right drivers automatically. Good luck to you, and please post if you get it to work. ThanX
