I installed Mandrake 8.2 on my presario 1692 dual boot with win98. I have it since two days and I fooled around with it a bit, especially trying to fix my sound problem (See my other post), now Frozen-bubble won't work any more, just shows me a sand watch and never starts. It worked fine before, except the sound.
Same thing with NetHack Falcon's Eye.
The worrying part of your thread is the "I fooled around with it a bit" ! What exactly did you do?! Hopefully not in 'root'
There could be a number of things, but try starting the programs in a console rather than via KDE (or whatever) and see if there's any error messages that can give you pointers.....
well actually I did log in as root, as I was trying to use harddrake to fix my sound card...which b.t.w. now is working. The problem was just that the volume in kmix was turned down.
When I start frozen bubble from a console it just tells me " This program is free sofware....published by the Free Software Foundation" and then nothing happens. No error messages.
maybe I should just reinstall all the games. How do I do that?
I'd start with the kdegames rpm in Software Manager........I'm not sure where else Mandrake would store these games, except perhaps under the multimedia games heading. Either way, you should be able to track 'em down using the above by checking the software trees.
The last time I had a similar problem was with a 3D game (NVidia drivers) but it doesn't sound like that in this case.
