Unhappy No sound in Linux Mint

I have a Acer Predator Helios 500, I have removed windows 10 and installed Linux Mint,
At first my sound worked with both ear and system speakers.
Then only ear phones - and now nothing

I also have no access to Number Pad.
Please help

As for the keypad, try pressing 'Num Lock.' This (from the tutorials) helps you through posting

Sounds like you have to fiddle around with the settings in Pulse Audio. Sometimes it does weird things. Occasionally you may have to log out/in to get it to reset.

Maybe a look at your internal speaker & sound card hardware will help us understand your problem better.

Can you give the information for your speakers:
Code:
~$ aplay -l
And, information for your sound card:
Code:
cat /proc/asound/cards

Have you had a look at alsamixer?

Run the following command as a normal user, and NOT with sudo or root;

Code:
alsamixer
If you see "MM" under the relevant sound output, it's muted. If the relevant sound output is muted, press "m" to unmute it. You can also install pavucontrol (PulseAudio volume control) as that allows you more control if your system is using PulseAudio, which I'm pretty sure Linux Mint does.

I've found that some laptops have touch sensitive buttons which mute audio,
and it takes you ages to see the led telling you this

probably isn't that.

Normally when you plug in your headphones speakers get turned off
some sensor knows you plugged something in.

it could be a problem with that "switch"
it might be in a confused state, I think suspend/hibernate can screw things like that up.

number pad?
is this a separate part of the keyboard or is it some mode switch?
sounds daft, but you may need some special drivers so that mode switch is recognised.

If it's not already present, install pavucontrol (the Pulse Audio mixer). It gives you much more granular control of Pulse than standard volume control application. It's in the repos.

It will allow you to look at individual input sources, both devices and programs, and output destinations.
