I'm just introducing myself. I have in fact been familiarized with Linux from a desktop perspective for about 8 years now. The first distro I discovered was Ubuntu back in 2008. It was a "happy accident" since I got frustrated with the restrictions that Windows gave me with all the licensing issues related to simply using, installing and sharing apps. I loved ubuntu from the start and still do. Also, you just can't beat the price!
I am currently trying to learn it well so that I may be able to help others. I would like to know if there is an NYC based group that I can attend meetings at because I really need to get a grip on this.

Thanks for allowing me in!
