Newbie Introduction

Greetings. I chose the Username of Old_Timer, not because of my experience with Linux, but because of my physical age and the number of years I've messed with computers. I'll be 72 in a couple of weeks.
Started with DOS 2.11 on a Tandy 1000SX. Skipped Windows 2K and ME and have just in the last few days started loading Linux Mint 14 Mate on my computers, a laptop that Vista had crashed on first, and then some old desktops that weren't in service, and now on my everyday desktops. I have kept Windows 7 on dual boot on three desktops, but am booting into it less and less.
I very much like LM 14, and am having less trouble overall than I expected, so far. Being very stubborn generally makes up for my lack of the virtue of patience.
I look forward to learning the things I need to learn and appreciate any help any of you can be.

Hi Old_Timer,

welcome to LQ. Sounds like you are making good progress in learning to use your new OS of choice - congratulations. See you round.

Cheers,
