Links disappeared from Desktop

Hello to all of you
I'm running Fedora 10 with KDE and i installed Google Earth and Netbeans in the folder /opt. I added links to the Desktop.
Now the image links disappeared and only the names are there, and if i click them nothing happens. Although if i go by command line to /opt/googleearth/ and run ./googleearth the program works fine. The same with netbeans 6.5
Thanks in advance to all of you

Try running this to create the link

Code:
ln -s /opt/googleearth/googleearth /home/myusername/Desktop/googleearth
What do you mean the "image links" disappeared? Do you mean they look different or what?

If you don't like running the code above, then right click on your desktop (if running somethine like gnome) and select "create launcher" then type the for the command "/opt/googleearth/googleearth"

There are many ways to do what you want.
