input/output error


i am trying to remaster a copy of knoppix 3.8. i am getting an input/output error when i am at stage 9)Now, copy the KNOPPIX files to your source directory :

cp -Rp /KNOPPIX/* /mnt/hda1/knx/source/KNOPPIX


I am using the HowTo from http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Knoppix_Remastering_Howto

Please help

In my personal experience, I get that Input/Output error most frequently when there is a media or hardware error. It sounds to me like either your harddrive is having problems, or perhaps your installation CD-ROM is not working correctly. Burn a new one and try it again.
