Gentoo setup fails on partition.

Hi, I'm installing gentoo on my laptop and it seems to detect my sata drives just fine. However during the install, when it comes to allocating space for partitions, it exits saying "The setup seems to have failed". i have 4920 MB of unallocated space which I want to use for gentoo. Once I select this unallocated space and choose to make it ext3 or swap (i tried both separately) it exits the install with the above message. i'm clueless here. any ideas?

You must create a partition on that unallocated space and then choose filesystem and mount point for it.You will need a swap partition(1,5xRAM will be ok) if you have a little of RAM,also.
