distro selection

hi all!
i need a distro for my hp 6715b. this is what im looking for: has to be fast, very short boot time, support for ntfs partitions, dual boot with xp, wireless, and the last thing and most important is to have low power consumption so my batery will last long. i think thats all and i didnt forget anything.

Try a few, that's probably what most would advise.

This is the most asked question on LQ. Use the search button ------------------------------>

Also try looking at the bottom of this page.

Hi,

'The LiveCD List' is a good starting point!

I agree you can do a LQ search as this has been covered a lot.

Try Xubuntu and Zenwalk for a start. They use the lightweight desktop, XFCE, faster to load up than Gnome or KDE. They also come with ntfs-3g which allows read/write access to Windows partitions. Dual booting can be done with any distro, use the Search function on these forums for information. Getting wireless going depends on hardware and distro. No idea about battery life - depends on how much you use it?
