Arrow Advice on distro selection for Acer laptop

Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire 1642 WLMi laptop. Relevant spec is as follows: (i.e. hardware wich might need to be specially configured under Linux)

Intel 2200 wireless
Intel 915PM Express chipset (w/integrated graphics)
Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-833S
15.4" WXGA 1280x800
PC Card slot (Type II)

Would many distros have any problems with the above hardware? I've got Knoppix 4.0 working fine on this system, including the wireless although, with it being a LiveCD, I haven't tried the DVD writer. However, the system did have a problem with the widescreen resolution. (I assume this can be fixed simply by manually altering a config file somewhere.)

So far I've been looking at Ubuntu, Suse, Mandriva and Knoppix (by which I mean Knoppix installed on the HD).

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

If you properly configure Xorg.conf (or what the distro you pick calls it) I don't see why any of those disto's would be trouble. I've used Ubuntu and Knoppix before, and I personally like both of those alot. Probably Ubuntu more, even though I'm having trouble using it with multiple harddrives, but thats another thread.

Unbuntu even has a wireless feature built into its Control Center, so that might make it alittle easier on you. I don't know if other distros have that yet or not.

I am using Suse 10 on an Acer Travelmate. Everything works quite well (I've not tried bluetooth though).

Thanks.
I have tried the Ubuntu LiveCD on another PC and it worked fine apart from the wireless (a USB adapter, the BenQ AWL300 which I now believe is based on an Atmel chipset so may well work with the generic Atmel drivers for Linux, but that's another thread). Would I be correct in saying that if the Ubuntu LiveCD works fine with all my hardware, then so should the installed version? In other words, is the LiveCD exactly the same as the installed version but with, presumably, less software due to the limitations of the CD?

I'm pretty sure that's how liveCDs work.
