It worked fine before 3days.. now there's problem.. I tried all the drivers, packages suggested at debian. But i still cant connect to any network. The problem is that i cant connect to wifi networks in any of the linux distros which have worked fine before.

Hi...

You're welcome.

If BW-userx's suggestions don't help, I wonder if another network manager would this or if this is an issue with the driver or wpa_supplicant? If nothing else works, as an experiment and if you have the package "wpa_supplicant" installed, you could try the solution mentioned at the very last post (by allanf) here. Don't uninstall wpa-supplicant, see if the method here works if the open networks appear in the wpa_supplicant.conf file. You would disable wpa_supplicant for any open networks.

Regards...

he probably has the right drivers out-of-the-box. i'm guessing you're using network manager, since there's a connect button. have you tried going through wpa_supplicant hell yet?

*sorry, somehow i only read the first page of the thread. you wouldn't even need wpa_supplicant to connect to open wifi. you could set the essid with iwconfig, ifconfig your interface up, and connect with dhcpcd.

You're welcome, I'm glad you got it working!

If you would, please tell us exactly how you got it to connect to an unsecured network.

Regards...

yes this is the part where you have to learn how to document your work as a Linux User, provide steps in what you did to get it working so that people that have simular problems can find the solution right here by what you did. this way you 2 r giving back by regressing back to Kindergarden - Sharing.
