Alright so I am really running Archbang linux but whatever. I wanted to install the prop. amd drivers however I think Archbang automatically installed the xf86-video-ati by default (I didnt do it) so I went to remove them because I was experiencing an error when trying to install the prop. amd drivers (saying that ati-catalyst required some library but I had it installed already). After I removed them I still had the same error and so I rebooted the PC thinking I could load into Arch terminal only so I could install the drivers...but I cant see how.

Help please! My screen just freezes after selecting to boot arch after all of the [ OK ] things load

I have no solution for your issue, but if you decide bork archbang and try arch linux, there is a great youtube video on doing a post installation on arch linux.

If you drag the time line to 11:39 he goes into the steps of configuring both the nvidia and ati catalyst drivers.

I've tried doing arch linux installs so many times and they fail every time also. I guess I will try again.

A triumph of hope over experience? But if you must, try Bridge Linux for the installation.

So it boots fine, but it can't start X. Press ctrl + alt + F1 to go to tty1. Log in as root and install the driver.
