AQnnoying problems after installing SuSE 8.1

Fist thing I have noticed, the system hangs when my usb hub is connected, during the usb scan at boot.

I have a Sony DW-10A DVD-R that is seen as a cdrw device and will not play DVD's through M-player. If my cdrw drive is connected to, then I get more problems. The sony becomes the model number of the cd drive.

No drivers available for my Actiontec Home DSL modem, it's only seen ans 'unknown Texas Instruments device'

Any help greatly appreciated.

What happens when you boot without the hub connected? Try that and then plug it in and see what 'dmesg' tells you about the usb events.
