Question RH7.x sticking to old ip even after network restart

Hi,
I had this problem for a long time. I think it started with RH7.0. The problem is I change the ip and other info in networks anf ifcfg-eth0 file and restart the network. But this never works. It goes back and takes the old ip. I greped whole of /etc for my old ip but did not find it. I never bothered before as just a reboot used to take it new ips. We recently had a series of system crash and I had to do it a number of times and this really annoyed me. Can anyone tell me where it might be storing this old ip and how to get rid of that?

you got it set statically? that is the only way it could "stick" after network restarts
