New Machine, setting up Networking, want recommendations...

I just purchased a new machine. It is a 3Ghz P4 with 1 GB memory, FSB 800, 80 GB HD. I did not purchase a network card yet and am looking for recommendations for a wireless PCI card.

I have another machine and got burnt because I did not check things out and got a linksys card with the broadcom chipset. That machine has windows ME, RH 6.2 and RH Fedora Core 1 on it.... Never got linux to recognize the WMP11 V2.6 card... I found out afterwards it was not supported.

With the new machine, I am looking for a PCI wireless network card that is supported with Linux. I would rather not get something like the USRobotics 2410 and 2415 combination...

The machine will be a Linux only machine once I get networking going.
Anyone have any recommendations for a card?

I am no expert on networking, this is a learning experience, but I have setup dialup networking on one previous RH 6.2 system.

1) I would suggest netfilter.com for much info.
2) Use a good firewall (see above)
3) Be prepaired for some gotchas S.A. my FW doesnt always pick up
cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward (should be 1 ) and nothing gets forwarded
4) Set up a good logging system and possibly a sniffer checking for trojans
A simple one using iptables is
$IPTABLES -I OUTPUT -o $EXTIF -j LOG -m state --state NEW --log-prefix "First out of $EXTIF "

Thanks, but...

Thanks for the suggestions, but what I am looking for is leads on what
is a good wireless PCI network card (i.e. one that is supported in Linux).

I intended to setup a firewall and plan to spend a fair amount of time
figuring out iptables and such... This is a learning experience (even though I have been using Linux for more than 7 years) when it comes to that stuff so I appreciate any suggestions.

My primary goal is to pick a good wireless PCI networking card. It seems that most cards are not PCI cards or require an PCI adapter.

After that, I want to experiment with HT and Linux...
