Network Card

Apache / Internet server aside for a moment. If I want to set up an office file & print server using a slack'd pc which I already have running and is quite problem free, what are the first steps to putting this into place?

I have a network card, not sure if its configured as it needs to be. Please will someone point me in the right direction or should I go out and buy a slck/linux proven network card for under £20.00 to make things bulletproof.

Thanks in advance,

R Hargreaves

If you already have a network card it might be wise to at least try to get it going before purchasing another NIC, don't you agree?

Please let us know the exact make and model of the card, plus the output from lspci -v. Also, have you tried setting it up before and if so, what problems did you come across?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The pc does have a network card installed but without any identification on it.

I will try the lspci command and post back if you sub to the thread you wil see hopefully in the next day or so.

thanks

Rob
