Angry eth0 is up but not pinging to any machine

I'm in a bind and I thought some expert advice might save me a lot of time.

I now wish to have my RH 7.3 machine on the LAN here. After Installation of 7.3 I downloaded the drivers for my network card from intel site, Installed, configured eth0 ifconfig eth0, configured addtional details in network device control, i.e IP address, Subnet and other details. And tried to ping the other address and everything went of fine! Was ping to other addresses and to it own IP address too. I treid pingin from other machine to this Linux box and it was fine too.

I rebooted the machine using reboot, and after that when the system came up im not able to ping to any address not other systems could ping to my address. BUT linux box is able to ping its own address. i.e Linux box ip is 10.1.1.1 and if i use ping 10.1.1.1 the responce is okay but if i try ping 10.1.1.2 it says host unreachable. I even tried 10.1.1.3/4/5/6 hence every mahine on the network.

When I boot I get all [OK] messages

But I cannot ping anything nor be pinged. The card functioned before reboot so guess there is no problem with the drivers, so I think the problem must be in my configuration some where

I reinstalled Linux again and again and again about 7 times by now! Installed the ethernet card as described in readme file of the vendor step by step! But now even its not bringin up the system even for the fist time.

Linux Guru's, Please help me in solving this problem If you could provide me list of files which i SHOULD check for any configration problems.. would be really cool!

So what now? What could be preventing the system from working correctly and what do I do to trouble shoot and fix?

Your advice appreciated! I'll be happy to post back more info. Thanks in
advance!

By the way this is my first time on linux box! and sorry for begin a
