hi
try installing suse 9.3 pro. i may be able to help u with the wireless.
follow this steps.
1. copy the WinXP driver for the WLAN into say /opt/wireless/ & CAPITALISE all the programs, eg for Inprocomm driver (mine) NETI2220.INF. Btw, please copy all the files inside the WinXP (can use the one on the recovery CD), inclusive of the .sys, pnf, etc.
2. use the built-in ndiswrapper (come with suse 9.3 Pro) and type "ndiswrapper -i /opt/wireless/NETI2220.INF"
3. use the "Super User File Manager" & edit the "/etc/modprobe.conf.local" - add the following line into the last line "alias wlan0 ndiswrapper"
4. type "modprobe ndiswrapper" at # (ie root)
5. type "rcnetwork restart"
6. use YAST and configure the driver - go to "Network Devices" -> "Network Card". Your card may be detected but yet configured, so click on it & configure it. change the following - change to "wireless" , rename the device hardware to say "Neti" & add "ndiswrapper" under "Module", set your WEP key.
7. use the "Super User File Manager" & change the "ifcfg-wlan-xxx" into "ifcfg-wlan0" - under "/etc/sysconfig/network/"
8. reboot the laptop - ie restart the system.
9. use YAST, go to "System -> /etc/sysconfig.editor -> system -> kernel" & select "Modules_loaded_on_boot" - change it to "ndiswrapper" & click "finish"
10. reboot PC again.
11. go to YAST -> Network Devices -> Network Card & select your eth card & set it to "On Plugged" or "Never" - this will set the ethernet connection to "on plug" or "never" choose whichever, but cant choose others.
12. reboot laptop.
13. use. may hang on the first few tries. If hang, switch off the laptop & restart. may take 3 times "hang" before the network really activated ;p enjoy!
hope this helps
