Correct screen resolution not available for Gateway MT6840 laptop and Ubuntu 7.04/32

This is a great work-oriented laptop, and installation went without a hitch.

The one problem is the resolution: The choices are 1024x768, 800x600, and 640x480. The display is 1280x800. While Linux runs well, the display is slightly distorted as a result.

I am running Ubuntu 7.04 32 bit on an i945gm-based system. All available updates have been applied. No external drivers have been applied.

You probably have two options:

1) install 915resolution and use that to make 1280x800 available. It needs to be run every boot.

2) use the "intel" driver instead of "i810" (xorg.conf). You shouldn't need 915resolution using this method.
