laptop screen resolution


i have a compaq armada 1700 and i cannot get the screen resolution on Slackware 10.0 to go above 800X600 there is no other option but that and below. i know my screen can go up to 1024X768 but i cant figure it out. and suggestions?

Check your XF86Config-4 file. There are the possible resolutions in. Might be in /usr/X11 (there its in Mandrake). Edit it to the wanted resolution and startx again.
