Lightbulb recommendation: which nvidia closed source driver is overall 'best'?

Hey all,

I'm running SuSE 8.1 on an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ w/ 512MB RAM and a Geforce4 Ti4400 vid card.

My question is simply, which drivers have people been having the best luck with as far as performance and stability?

I'm currently running the v1.0-3123 drivers (second newest) that I installed through YOU (YaST Online Update thingy), so before I needlessly invite more pain I thought I'd ask around and see what people were finding success with.

If I do upgrade my drivers, do you recommend the binary package for SuSE or should I compile from source for these? Also, what do I have to do to completely remove the old ones before install of the new??

Thanks,

aus

Definitely the 3123s I tried the 4191s and there was some kind of bug that made failsafe and the shutdown kill thingy blurry on the right side. And source is real easy install only takes about 10 minutes, and I type slow.
