I read the guide on how to get the side mouse buttons working, however, I'm still on the scroll wheel issue. I followed the guide, installed imwheel, adjusted xmodmap, etc and the scroll wheel still doesn't work. I know it will work fine if I simply plug the mouse into a USB port, but I can't do that because I'm on a KVM (The KVM does have USB support, but I can't get the USB signal to travel 30 feet). My Windows XP system on the KVM works fine with this setup.

Do you suppose I should keep playing around with xorg.conf or get a USB repeater cable? I appreciate any suggestions.

I'm using:
Logitech MX500 on PS/2 port
SUSE Linux 10.0

Ytry fiddlng around with the mouse driver section in xorg.conf.. My similar logitech mouses work with both ExplorerPS/2 and IMPS/2 drivers, and the scrolling & side buttons work also with both. Just make sure you have the button count high enough, scroll up & down plus click all take a button each, so with my mouses I need the count to be at 7:
1, left button
2, scrollwheel click
3, right button
4, scroll up
5, scroll down
6, upper thumb button
7, lower thumb button

the order could be different, dun remember and am on mi iBook atm (:

I just decided to plug the mouse into the computer directly to eliminate the KVM as a problem. And of course it works.

I must have forgot that scroll wheels are notorious for not working right on PS/2 KVMs. I'll pick up a USB cable.

It would still be nice of Linux could do it. :-/
