i currently install fedora in my laptop(and this is an toshiba dvd-rom and cdrw), however i found it only work for the data cds but not for the music cds, when i put data cd in there everything work perfectly, but when i put music cd in the box,it said drive error, does anybody know how to fix this problem???
When playing audio CD's make sure you have read permissions to the CD drive, you would do
#chmod a+r /dev/cdrom (changing cdrom to your device eg /dev/hdc)
Once you have read permission you then need to start a CD player application like KsCD or Gnome CD Player, make sure it's configured to play from the right drive and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.
To check that problem, first check your hardware and make sure that the audio cable between the cd drive and the sound card is plugged.
Then use something like totem, or xine or Juk to play
Goto the player options and check if the cd device is the one you're using.
