I know it has been discussed a few times, but I just can't believe, that there isn't a sensible music organizer app out there somewhere.
No, I don't need easytag, my 10000+ files are all nicely tagged and rated thank you very much.
Besides, I thought the point of id3v2 was to enable extended tags ala Mood, Tempo, Rating etc. the few id3v2 enabled apps I've seen only have a comment field as an additional tagging option.
No, I don't want juK and Yammi etc. juK uses aRTs which I just got done disabling on my system because of Flash shenanigans, and other similar apps give me long playlists or a artist tree view, whoopdeedoo.
I want something like MusicMatch or WMP9 that doesn't require Wine and can use XMMS or other Alsa enabled players.
In WMP9 I had rated my songs and filled in extra info like Tempo and Mood and could generate a so called Auto Playlist of let's say "Slow Romantic Classical" music with a 4 or 5 star rating. Select the Autoplay list, hit play and then hit the bath tub. Or "Very Fast Angry Punk" for answering in-laws support emails...
Something similar was availabe in MM. AutoDJ or something along those lines.
I've searched the entire time I have used Linux so far, which is only about 6 weeks, thus my new thread here. I hope I'm just google-challenged or something...
Before I start writing it myself, I'd rather ask if somebody has already invented this particular wheel. Or if it is maybe an upcoming feature in one of the existing solutions. Or maybe a plugin for XMMS.. who knows?
Thank you for your insights.
Guido.
