Enable Dual CPU (Athlon MP)

hi all,

I want to enable dual cpu support for our gameserver host, but it doesn't seem to work. Gameservers give pings of 1000ms and I can't compile with make -j2 (gives cpu errorz). I've enabled SMP into the kernel source (2.4.22 with and without grsec) and the default Debian Woody kernel worx (also for gameservers). It always worked with 1 cpu.

Linux Ugame.Ultra-Gamepower.net 2.4.18-bf2.4 #1 Son Apr 14 09:53:28 CEST 2002 i686 unknown

this one is running now.

Greetz, and tnnnnxxx very much for helping,
Ace

take a look at /var/log/dmesg to confirm that it indeed is only using one cpu. Typically if the BIOS detects 2 CPU's, the machine starts, and the kernel has smp, they almost always do with newer kernels, it will just work. I am running Woody on a DUAL Xeon machine and i never did anything to enable it, it just works.

if this is the first time you've used this machine with two processors, it could be that they don't match and the bios is disabling the second one.
