Question ECS MB w/ no sound in Fedora

Hey everyone,

I recently upgraded some hardware components in my box from old hardware to a new motherboard (ECS PT890T-A), new processor (Intel Pentium D, socket 775), and new Kingston 1GB RAM.

With my previous motherboard/processor installed, I had no problem with the sound on my computer, but now that I've switched components, it seems that Fedora is unable to automatically detect the sound device. When I open up System > Administration > Soundcard Detection, it states:

Vendor: VIA
Model: Technologies, Inc. VIA High Definition Audio Controller
Module: snd-hda-intel

However, when I go to "test sound", it states no sound device was automatically detected.

So, to test to see whether or not it was a motherboard bug, I plugged in a different hdd, one with Windows XP on it. I discovered that the same issue happened: the computer could not automatically find the sound device. I then installed the drivers from the CD onto the Windows XP hdd and, as you could guess, the sound now did work, meaning all that was needed was a driver.

My question is this: how can I get a "driver" for my Fedora box? I went to the ECS website, but all they had in terms of downloads were all Windows based.

Is there a was to possibly back my way into getting a driver here, or am I doomed without sound?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Upgrade your kernel to the latest from Fedora Updates. Most device drivers in Linux are included in the kernel, and installing the newest kernel gets you support for the newest hardware.
