Unhappy No sound with Mandrake 9.1 and ECS L7S7A2

I have a new ECS L7S7A2 motherboard with 746 chipset. If I use draksound and select the snd-intel8x0 sound driver I can get Kaboodle to play a wav file.

However after I reboot it won't play the wav file. And when I open Audacity it says it can not initialize the audio i/o layer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
