Sound Within Mandriva 2006 Free

Hi.

I currently have two sound cards installed in my system, an EMU 1212M and a Creative Soundblaster Audigy. I just installed the Audigy yesterday and it shows up in Harddrake below the EMU 1212M. When I go to play audio the system tries to play it through the EMU 1212M. Is there anyway of stopping linux from recognising the EMU card? Ideally I would like sound to playback through the Audigy.

See I use 1212M for home recording in Windows so removing the card completely isn't an option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in the same boat. I try to install the ALSA drivers for the ACL850 AC97 sound system that's built into my mother board, but it trys to install a Sound Blaster Audigy instead. It thinks my 1212M is an Audigy.

ALSA is working on drives for this card. It is not clear how long this will take as I suspect that the 1212M is a some what difficult card to write drivers for.

Linux ALSA with EMU 1212m

I am currently developing support for the EMU 1212m and EMU 1820m sound cards for Linux ALSA. I have sound working for both input and output here, but I just need to clean things up a bit. Not all features will be supported initially, but I expect that something is better than nothing to start with.

To fix your problems temporarily, use the following command to load the snd-emu10k1 module

modprobe snd-emu10k1 enable=0,1

or in modules.conf
options snd-emu10k1 enable=0,1

What this means is the first card it sees will be disabled, and the second card it sees will be enabled, thus turning the second card into the main card, and making the first one invisible in Linux.
