Mandriva 2006 Free Edition Install Problems
Hi, I am trying to install Mandriva alongside XP-64. I downloaded and burned the i386 DVD iso, because I really have no use for the 64 bit version. I boot up with the DVD in the drive, and follow the directions. After I accept the EULA, it begins to load some modules (maybe??). After a couple are loaded, I get this message, "Installing driver for hard drive controller nVidia corp.|CK804 Serial ATA Controller" and it gets stuck. It's not frozen, it just wont continue loading. Any suggestions?
Here are my system specs if needed:

Really no idea. This hardware halting issues can be really problematic. Once I tryed to install debian on my machine and it had the same problem.
Since noone else answered, the only thing I can say is that you can try to Download Mandriva Limited Edition 2005 and try to install it instead of the 2006.

try different boot parameters --- choose f1 at boot and then type {linux yourparameter} then enter. A good start would be {linux noscsi} enter or {linux noapic} enter ....

i would suggest you install the 64bit version regardless if you "have a need" for it or not. I suspect that there are modules and drivers that are only used for 64bit systems that wouldn't be included in the 32 bit bersion, like the sata controller for your mobo.

i have 2 serial ata controllers a intel and a promise fast track one,
i had no problems on mandrake 2005, but 2006 would reognize my sata hdd and install to it, but at boot time would not boot of hte hdd.
I myself had to switch my hard drive to my other serial ata controler (my intel one) as it didnt require any speical drivers to use the hdd and all is well now. (same sata support probs for my other controler iwth winxp service pack 2)
so i guess some sata driver probs with 2006, if u have another sata controler try that?, or parellel ata hdd?
