Samba configuration error when accessing NTFS files " Network path not found"

hi,

I configured samba in linux but i'm unable to access windows is in NTFS. In windows when I click on Network Places then click on Workgroup, it shows computers on network and also shows Samba Server which I configured in Linux. when I double click on it a message window appears " Network path not found" when I ping, both computers ping sucessfully each other.

can anyone help me solve this.

1) did you add the windows user name to samba?
2) is your windows system set to login to the samba server?

if samba doesn't have the windows user name as authorised, then you'll not get anywhere.

is windows is not told that it has to login using a specific user name and password, then you'll not be able to access the samba server.

you may also need to enable samba client tools in windows, I don't use ms products so never have to worry about the connectivity.

Also try taking down your firewall, if you're running one. If that makes it work you have to open some ports:
#Port 135/TCP - used by smbd
#Port 137/UDP - used by nmbd
#Port 138/UDP - used by nmbd
#Port 139/TCP - used by smbd
#Port 445/TCP - used by smbd
