"Network Path not Found"


"Now i Shared a directory ..... using Samba server settngs..... I would like to share files to WIN 4.9 professional server... Whenever I am Trying to map a network drive I got the error like " Network Path Not Found" ...... "

I would Really appreciate if some body helps me ............... regarding this problem.

not sure what the issue.
are you trying to see files on a windows machine from linux?
OR
are you trying to see files on linux from a windows machine?

I am not want to see the files but to access the files from linux to windows ...... I shared the file from linux using samba server... and i am able to see the files which i shared but not able to map a network drive from win to that shared file.... whenever i am trying to map a network drive it gives me error like "network path not found" why it was happened.....


I would really happy if somebody helps me regding this problem...

this is agin zameer ahmed ...

When i check the winsystem's log file(systemname .log) from Linux(redhat 9) it shows me error message like..

"sysname xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx can't change directory to /root/ zameer/file (permission denied) "

where

(win's systemname)sysname followed by (IPADRESS OF windows system )xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (followed by this message )can't change directory to /root/foldername (which is shared ) permission denied

I am really appreciate if anybody could help me to solve this problem

Im not to sure, but maybe a access restrictions on the files you are trying to share if you can see them but not read or write to them? What kind of access does the SAMBA user have to the folder which you ahve shared?
