The "labels" for these are in Hebrew, as we are in Israel, but you can see what is what. The 500w label is "case and USB ports". This machine is just for work, which entails email/browsing/text editing and a bit of light web development on my workstation. I don't do heavy graphic work or play games. I can spend up to $1K.
I think I need to get the details of the box and power supply as he didn't send those. I think I also need the model of the hard disks, as I think it makes a difference. Any other questions I should be asking?
If the question is "Is this system setup suitable for my purposes?", then the answer is "yes, very probably".
However, to confirm, you should check which i5 processor it will come with, which ports it has (USB3.1?, USB3.0?, Ethernet?, HDMI? etc.) and which graphics card it has. Does it come with a wifi card/dongle? Does it support Bluetooth? Does it have an SD card reader? How much support does it come with, and for how long? etc. etc. It's useful to sort these issues out from the off.
Right, I forgot to mention that. I have no Bluetooth devices and external USB card readers I have. He also said it has one year on-site warranty.
I have two LG IPS 231 and the Mobo seems to have USB3 and two graphic outputs, which is OK. I use an adaptor for one monitor as it is and that works fine.
Interesting that my main issue you didn't mention. My current PC has 4G memory and when that gets filled up and it uses the swap, the machine crawls. I have tried to fix it for years, but nothing can be done. So I think that part of the issue is old, slow disks. So I want to fix that. Perhaps I am overly-concerned about disk speed just because this machine has a problem with it. But anyhow, is that something I should be concerned with? I should ask for more details about the disks, no?
Disks can certainly be a bottleneck, but you have an SSD there and I assume that you will be installing Linux to that - with that and 8GB of RAM, it should whizz through what you want it to do. The hard disk itself is probably more modern and faster than the one on your previous system. However, if you want, do ask which hard disk drive will be used and post the details here - I'm sure that one of the knowledgeable posters on here will tell you if it looks sufficient.
In general though, the vendor should be able to give you a far better overall system spec than you have been able to provide so far.
What do you do to fill 4GB of RAM? Do you have virtual machines running?
