network card ??

I use realtek RTL8029 but the netconfig "stops" when i use probe. and i am a complete newbi at linux.. the first thing i real want to do is, get on the internett. But i cant get the network card installed. if any one know how i can do it i`ll be happy.... (i use slackware)

What distribution are you using? This could vary from distro, seeing as some of the distrobutions have hardware support straight out. I would suggest Mandrake 9.0 to learn from, has great hardware support out of the box. Don't jump head long into Debian or Slackware or something like that, stick with the easy stuff and you should be able to get online with Mandrake right after setup.

i want to use slack.. And learn slack.. but i need to get online with my computer.. slack 8.1 i`m sure it is.
