VNC and KDE

I run KDE as my desktop, but when I start a VNC session to share work with others, it defaults to twm which I really don't like.

It seems like I've logged into other machines in the past using VNC and the window manager is KDE.

Does anyone know how to make this work? Whenever I try to change my ~/.vnc/xstartup to use 'startkde', I get an error message about already having an instance of KDE running.

If the default desktop is KDE then simply have your hidden .vnc directory configured as per this tutorial which should help: http://fedoranews.org/tchung/vnc/index.shtml

Ah - brilliant. That seems to have done the trick.

Code:
# Uncomment the following two lines for normal desktop:

unset SESSION_MANAGER
exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
This was the key piece that I was missing. Now when I start the VNC server, I get my KDE desktop.

Thanks,

Your welcome, glad to provide the link, it does provide a good tutorial/troubleshooting guide.
