Question Xwindows (KDE) and VNC

First off - I am a newbie - so please be gentle!

I was wondering if it is possible to run VNC to control an Xwindows session. I downloaded VNC, but instead of remote controlling KDE (Xwindows), I am remote controlling an XTerm session, which is quite useless for me. Is there any help anyone can give me ????
