Let me bring this discussion back on topic. The reason I am interested in working there is because that is the only local (Southern California) Linux company I know of. I could much rather work for them, than a Microsoft based company.

Jaketate - as I, and anyone who read the Linux news, remember it Linspire were under attack from Microsoft for the Lindows name. It went to court and everything.
Seriously, if you don't like Linspire, why not go and stage a protest outside of their offices instead of just trolling our existing threads?

im sorry, i thought i was being helpful by stating that their website had a link to the jobs, and also warnign that in my opinion they may very well be out of business in the next year or so.... I have seen numerous opinions posted on here and I didnt think it was against policy for me to do so. I was the one that was told to "read my sig" by a user with the exact name of someone who also posts at the linspire website..... then I just responded to that....

Here's the source code to the Linspire distro. Download it yourself, trollboy.
ftp://130.94.123.237/
I suppose it would be too much for you to accept that this is yet ANOTHER of the things you got wrong, "Jake".
Thanks,
Peter

Sure, sure. Ill-informed nonsense plucked out of thin air does not qualify as an opinion worth sharing.
If you have some actual facts, post away. Here's what I have called you on so far this morning:
1. "Linspire doesn't support open source". FACT: Linspire supports open source a whole lot more than most distros.
2. "Linspire is going out of business". FACT: Linspire has $20M in the bank.
3. "Linspire source isn't available" FACT: I gave the download URL
4. "Linspire broke the GPL license" FACT: No they didn't.
Can you please admit your errors, and keep quiet until you know what you're talking about, "Jake".
Thanks,
Peter

Facts are inconvenient things for you, aren't they?
The GPL does not specify that the source must be delivered on a CD.
Downloading from an ftp site is perfectly acceptable.
Please try to restrict yourself to truthful and thoughtful opinions in future.
Peter

WRONG! maybe you should do some reading...
Go and discuss this with some of the other linspire forum people, ask where the thread is that discusses this... Ask why it was deleted! Ask why a lof of people came to the conclusion that I was right about this...
go now and get THOSE facts....

My goodness, you certainly are making yourself look ridiculous.
Here is the GNU GPL: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html#TOC1
Can you please point out the clause that requires that you be sent a CD?
Because clause 3b seems to say the opposite to me.
Thanks,
Peter

At last, we agree on something.
So, you cannot point to the clause in the actual license, then?
Thanks,
Peter

as i said peter go talk to the others at the forum... I am tooo tired to go thru it again...
ok, one word peter one word are you ready ACCOMPANY thats the magic word peter, either the source ACCOMPANIES the product or the written offer ACCOMPANIES the product... Do I need to spell it? DO I need to show you that word in the clause?
If I order a box product how does a ftp site ACCOMPANY that.... And I would think that a faq about the GPL would be proof enough but not for some I reckon.....

I guess I don't understand what you're arguing about, since Linspire does adhere to the requirements of the GPL in full, as you would be aware, if you had actually bought the boxed product.
Thanks,
Peter
