“Going To California”, the Earls Court concert on the double DVD set that I have found again, when we cleared out old stuff from the barn... “That's the way” coming up, right now.
I am in a real bad mood... had to repair my chainsaw (first reason). Succeeded and the wretched thing makes the same darned noise in the end. I somehow managed to assemble it all and it still works!
Put a „Bardentreffen”-“Sampler” in the CD-player with songs that I had copied from all the CDs that I had bought at the „Bardentreffen” in 1998, 1999 and 2001. I do not remember 2000.
I put on my “chainsaw-trousers” and began chainsawing... Then one of the screw nuts flew off to a yet unknown destination; then the chain itself followed... I am an informatician, I am an informatician, I am an informatician... I do vegetables and might be able to milk the occasional cow. But I will never be a lumberjack.
got myself a vinyl turntable.
something wrong with the pickup, there's not enough bass and trebles are hissy, but it's still enjoyable to finally listen to my records again...

That sounds like you may have a mismatch between the pickup/cartridge and your preamp. There are/were two types of systems - one is magnetic and the other magnetic. Ceramic has higher voltage output but poor fidelity and iirc a higher impedance. Magnetic has lower impedance, lower output but very linear fidelity. One type of cartridge will not operate correctly into the other preamp input due to mismatches. Insure they match, preferably by a completely magnetic system.
you mean MM (moving magnet) and MC (magnetic coil).
I'm pretty sure most off-the-shelf systems (amps, turntables, cartridges) are MM.
both the player and the amp are off-the-shelf systems from the 80s.
the cartridge is MM, but i believe now it's
a) not the original type recommended for this player
b) broken
