First off, I apologise for alarming some readers. If you feel you should report, please do so. That is you right...
I'm not if a positive mood. Yes, this happens. Open the newspapers, look at tv...you know where this goes.
If I extrapolate the future...(I have some 30 more years I guess, then I'll be eighty and maybe dead)...it will be grim. Religious rulings. Financial crisis. Shortages. Limited freedoms (speech, expression, gender choice, ...)
It will be grim.
Will it?
...I'm scared of the future...
Sorry for venting...this forum if about all I have...

I know the feeling, hope seems in pretty short supply sometimes.
I think all you can do is get through each day and try to do something positive every day hoping you can improve your general mood.

I know what you mean. It can be scary if these come to pass. A one world religion system, a one world currency and a one world government.
I personally hang on to HOPE.
It's the one thing they can't tax, take, regulate, or quantify. f-em.
Try some public service with some less fortunate than yourself, things come into perspective pretty quickly.
Thanks all for these thoughts...
Basically...looking at that silver lining instead...one day at a time...
Just your replies alone help...feels I'm not the only one in that pattern of thought....
No doubt some things are coming up that are going to be pretty difficult, perhaps even terrifying. In terms of hope and where you place your hope, I can tell you from my own personal experience that Jesus is that hope.
I can go through a lot a difficult stuff in the course of my life, we all do and I'm no exception but the one thing I do have in the midst of it is my relationship with God and that fact I belong to Him and what He gives me to face what I do face: His peace and joy to name a couple. Plus, I know the end of the story. Revelation 21 mentions this.
These are very real things. It's not make believe.
My hope is also in what he promised me as His child: Eternal life with Him, comfort, abundant life (spiritually) in Him, just to name a few. See here for more.
And what I want to share with you is that you can have this, too.
If you are contemplating suicide, I ask you to please reconsider! Don't go down that path, there's nothing there but death and destruction, physically and spiritually for those who have not received Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Please see my second link below.
What I want to impress upon you and everyone on this forum is that you're not here by accident or some freak act of nature. You were created by God for God and each of you have incredible value and purpose and you have an enemy, Satan, who is trying in every way possible to prevent you from seeing that!

I would ascribe at least some of this to our sin nature.

Reason: Changed information.
Here's my **do this ... right now(!!)** advice to you, Thor:
... and, with the utmost and most sincere respect to you ...
Quote:
Call a 'Suicide Prevention' hotline in your area!! After you have explained to them that you do not, at the present moment, actually have a revolver pointed at your temple ... ask them for help, and also for advice. "Standing firmly, as they are, 'off to one side,'" they are specifically trained to throw you whatever sort of 'rope' you may require.
"Mental illnesses" are no laughing matter. In fact, they're the most-insidious form of illness of which the human species is capable. I've sat on the other end of that telephone. (I successfully talked a young man off a bridge.) And, in the process, I learned a lot about the many subtleties of the human brain.
"The human brain," actually, is a bizzare contraption of microelectronics and voodoo-chemistry. And yet, it is the only tool that any of us have with which to "objectively" ... (s-i-c-!!) ... "view 'The World.'"
Like every other part of our bodies, "the human brain" can 'get sick.' But, un-like every other part of our bodies, it can be "the last to know," literally because of its privileged position. In fact, the brain is quite capable of denial ... denial that finally results in the death of the entire organism, even at said organism's own hand.
Therefore, my suggestion. Suspend disbelief(!) in "what your own brain is presently telling you." Reach out, consciously and deliberately, in the direction of a third party, independent of yourself and therefore of your own brain's present point-of-view. Suicide-prevention hotlines are staffed 24/7 by people who have been trained specifically in "psychological triage." As soon as they are reassured that you're not seconds-away from killing yourself ... (well, let me omit that tale ... ) ... they can help you. Whether or not your present situation has (and, in this case I don't think it has ...) reached the crisis point, they can give you, shall we say, a businessplan. A way to properly-regard this thing ... to properly deal-with this thing ... to get it t'hell o-u-t of your life.
Which is something that you really can't do for yourself. These illnesses are extremely dangerous because of the effects they have. "You just don't see it coming."
It's a bizarre idea, now isn't it? The very same brain that can detect that your nose "is sick," cannot sometimes detect that it(!) is sick! Strange, but true. Therefore: take action. A fundamental property of "mental illnesses, of any and every sort," is that "they interfere (sometimes, alas, fatally ...) with their own treatment." Don't be a statistic.
"Am I 'over-reacting?'" Delighted(!!) to hear you say that. It's a wonderful positive sign. But, this sh*t is incredibly dangerous. Callanyway.

The scripture says it all
Luke 21:26
26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
