I'd put it towards a 5 speed Cosworth gearbox for an older car I'm doing up in my spare time. If you wanted something computer/linux specific, if the money was given to me for free I'd probably divide it up and donate to a bunch of projects that I use, otherwise more disk space.
I suppose that that depends upon what form it was in. If it was in loose change, I'd use it as a counter-balance on a pulley system to get me out of bed automatically in the morning.
If it was in one dollar bills it would probably be too big to stuff into my pocket, so I would set fire to it. I think that this would be marginally more economical than paying the utilities companies to pipe gas into my fireplace for me to burn.
I do have rather a soft spot for nature, so another alternative could be to leave it out on the doorstep and see if any rabbits wanted it...
In all seriousness though, for those who do happen to have spare money lying around, Oxfam and the WWF are good places to offload it. (For all you Americans out there, that's the World Wildlife Fund - I'm sure that Heavy Hulk Hoegarden and Silly Steve Arseten have quite enough cash already.)
