Randomness - iPod 30GB(5g) and linux

Posted 01-08-2006 at 11:15 PM by microsoft/linux

Ok, so I got a 30 GB iPod for christmas, and I have some decent sucess with linux. Below is how I've gotten it working with debian etch.

This guy apparently is a debian developer, and has made a patch for gtkpod to allow transfer of video. This is extremely useful. I use handbrake for video conversion.

First, I made a new directory to mount it on
Code:
# mkdir /mnt/ipod
I then added this to my fstab
Code:
/dev/sda2 /mnt/ipod

Randomness- I'm a Senior Member!

Posted 12-27-2005 at 12:00 AM by microsoft/linux

I just noticed that I have gained the desgination of "Senior Member", I guess that happened 3 posts ago.
Code:
senior

   1. older
from Wiktionary

Huh...senior implies older, more mature. I'm 17, perhaps a bug in the system?(Jeremy, you may find a bug report for this)

That bums me out...someone(jeremy) thinks I'm old!

Anyway, how long 'till I change designation, Guru here I come!

Randomness - Happy Holidays

Posted 12-24-2005 at 12:48 PM by microsoft/linux

In the interest of being politically correct(and just because I don't feel like leaving anyone out)
Happy Chanukkah
Merry Christmas
Happy Winter Solstice
Happy Saturnalia
Happy Life Day
Happy Kwanzaa
Happy Ramadhan

Oh, and if any of these winter greetings are incorrect(as in, 'happy' isn't used as the precursor), please leave a comment, and I will change it.

Randomness - One more day!!!

Posted 12-21-2005 at 05:23 PM by microsoft/linux

One more day of school until Winter Vacation(or christmas break, or whatever you want to call it). I'm ecstatic(spelling?). Not that I don't like school....well, alright, I don't like school very much, but that's not the point. I get to stay home, and sleep in almost all the time. I can snowboard 2 or 3 times over vacation, there's presents(like I said, it's christmas break) and family. What more can you ask for(besides world peace, I don't think that's one of the benefits of Winter Vacation)?...

Randomness - Myspace.com

Posted 12-15-2005 at 04:45 PM by microsoft/linux

So I don't really see the point of Myspace.com, but a lot of my (3 or 4)friends have it. It seems to be a good way to meet people, and seeing as how I just moved here(Jackson, WY), I think I'm gonna try it. However, it doesn't seem to like linux very much, as every time I try to sign up, it loads a blank page. It worked under IE on a Mac at school, so I know it's not on their end.

I know, I know, you're thinking "If you don't see the point, why are you signing up?". It's...
