I'm not sure that there is much you can do about it. I once worked down the hall from a lab that had some computer equipment with roach infestations, and they also had a vacuum chamber. They tossed the equipment in there for a few days and when they took it out, they still had roaches. These bastards are seriously tough. Most chemicals that would kill the roaches are not things that I would put into a monitor. About the only thing I could think of would be to place traps all around the monitor and hope you can eventually dwindle the population down to nothing.

Put a COMBAT near your monitor and pc. It only takes one roach to eat the poison. When that roach dies, others will eat the dead roach passing the poison to each other. This can take days or weeks depending on the infestation.

P.S. Hope this can debug your problem.

Sorry for the little debug humor line...

The University of Nebraska put together a comprehensive manual on controlling cockroaches. If they're a problem where you live (the way they are in Texas), I highly recommend downloading the free PDF files and reading them:

http://pested.unl.edu/pesticide/page...&pageObjId=106

Very illuminating. As complementary material (not standalone material), I've also had some success with the recipe found here:

http://www.straightdope.com/columns/...ll-cockroaches

Be careful if you have small children or pets. YMMV. Use at your own risk, I assume no liability for your problems, etc.

I bet that's got to be an interesting sight. I don't suppose the CRT does anything to them?

I think if you have roaches in you PC you must call the bug exterminators immediately. I've never had any insects in my PC, mostly because we have the exterminators spray every 3-6 months, this keeps the ants, roaches, spiders, etc. at bay. I know it's probably toxic, but they spray in less accessible areas and small amounts, nothing like I would do, which I've done before (I like to make sure they're gonna die ... even if it kills me in the process)

I am not worried about roaches in my sys, but I am worried about all the dust that has accumulated over the years. I really should open it up and use a can of compressed are inside that thing...

Last time I had roaches (many years ago, not in PC, though) I got rid of them using some kind of "anti-roach chalk". I.e. you was supposed to draw lines with it in places where roaches are most likely to crawl when you don't see them. The chalk was said to be poisonous for roaches, so any roach crossing chalk was to die later. I think it actually helped because roaches disappeared. Unfortunately, I do not know if this "chalk" is some kind of crazy local invention (because it is certainly isn't being exported) or it is a clone of foreign product, and if it is still being produced.

I suppose that gives more meaning to the word 'bug'. If only there was a 'debugger' for it but like someone pointed out, 'RAID' would be a good option. Then the usual cleaning i guess.

actually i am using something like this currently. it is working but slowly. i live in the DC area. roaches are everywhere. i learned to live with them. i occupy the place during the day. they occupy the place during the night. we have a nice thing going. if i need to use the kitchen later at night, they back off. if i see a cockroach during the day, i back off - knowing that the poison will eventually kill it

Actually, it is said that word "bug" (in programming) was invented when cockroach caused short-circuit in one of the first computers.
