Fedora Core 6 - problem install on Dell Inspiron 5000 laptop

I am trying to install Fedora Core 6 on a Dell Inspiron 5000 laptop. Disc 01 loads fine in graphic mode and the process goes as far as loading Disc 02. However, when Disc 02 runs, I get several RPM errors:

in Office Productivity mode -

'The file planner-0.14-3.i386.rpm cannot be opened...'

When no mode selected -

'The file tomboy-0.4.1-1.fc6.i386.rpm cannot be opened...'

Downloaded 3 different versions of the Disc 02 ISO with good checksums on all of them. Is there any way to fully install from Disc 01 only? How do you get around the RPM issue?

Everything still seems to indicate disk 2 is bad. Even though the checksums agree, it is possible that your CDROM drive is misbehaving when trying to read the rpm's from it. I am not sure how up to date the following url is, but it might be something to try: http://www.troubleshooters.com/linux/coasterless.htm
