Via VT8233A Sound Issue

I have been browsing the forum but I have yet to find a solution to my question, as noted I have a onboard Via VT8233A. I installed the MP3 Plugin that allows XMMS to play MP3's. This does the purpose but all my mp3's sound like Alvin and the chipmunks meaning the track is being accelerated somehow. I have not been able to find a solution my sound driver is corrrect I am able to watch movies and play cd's just fine but my mp3's sound like garbage. If you can please lead me in the right direction I would appreciate that very much. Thanks in advance.

from a google search of "fast playback xmms", it seems you're not alone. it looks like a bug in xmms. one possible solution is to uninstall it and reinstall it. you should try that, and if that doesn't work, either pick a different mp3 player or search google for alternative solutions to this problem with xmms. perhaps your version of xmms is out-of-date, or maybe you updated it and a downgrade would do the trick. if you did any updating of xmms via up2date, i would suspect that can be a problem.

Just an idea try removing the Xmms settings and rerun Xmms:
Code:
rm -rf ~/.xmms/
This will reset to defaults.
