2.6.1 Sound issue

After upgrading to 2.6.1, and having the sound compiled in my kernel instead of in module, I can not hear any sound, and linux says that there are no sound devices. (cat /dev/sndstat -- :no such device)

Howwever, on linux boot, right away during the initial startup, it says something about ALSA, then makes a high pitched noise, then goes about it's business starting the system. But no sound after that.

Any suggestions on a fix for this problem?

Fedora (kernel upgraded to 2.6.1)
----------------------------------------
03:08.0 Multimedia audio controller: Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24 [CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio Accelerator] (rev 01)

Thanks
