keyboard error
My keyboard works fine, but I get a keyboard error message on boot. The message says probably an X server error. Should I report it to Gnome or whovever??

What exactly does the message say?
You may want to try the following: type /etc/init.d/kudzu start, press enter and immediately unplug your keyboard. kudzu may suggest unconfiguring the keyboard. At this point, you can plug the keyboard back in and choose "remove configuration". Then run kudzu again with the same command, and choose "configure" when asked. Choose the appropriate layout for your keyboard (probably "German", it's near the top of the list). In GNOME, you may want to go to Preferences -> Keyboard -> Layout to set it to German, too, if it isn't set already.

It says something like, XKB error
probably an X-server fault. It recommends running a grep which I have pasted here below.
[dad3@oldcomp dad3]$ xprop -root | grep XKB
_XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc105", "de", "nodeadkeys", ""
_XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "xfree86", "pc105", "de", "nodeadkeys", ""
[dad3@oldcomp dad3]$
[dad3@oldcomp dad3]$ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
layouts = [de]
model = pc105
overrideSettings = false
options = []
[dad3@oldcomp dad3]$
I ran the configure keyboard tool several times, but the same error message keeps coming on boot. But the keyboard works fine!!
