Unhappy Keyboard error

I have a thin-client Rec computer with Intel-chipset and Intel Pentium I 166 MHz prosessor. It's form 1995, and I think it has an American Megatrends motherboard (at least the BIOS is AMIBIOS). The keyboard-port is of the large, older type.

Here comes the problem: When I start my computer, the keyboard does not respond until after the "Press DEL to enter setup" message. But then, my computer just gives me some nasty beeps whenever I press a button on the keyboard. It's nothing wrong with the keyboard, I tested it on another conmputer, and it worked fine.

Is it a software or a hardware/physical problem? Should I just trash my MB?

Any help appreciated.

I would eBay the SDRAM you got in there and the CPU also. You can probably find a AT form motherboard on newegg.com or tigerdirect.com .

Thx, but i dont't think it's really worth it to buy a NEW computer/MB, when I'm just going to use it as a thin client.

Don't think the computer will respond to a keyboard input before this message is displayed. What boots the computer? Network card bootprom? If so try removing the network card and see what happens.

Have you tried using a different keyboard? If so and it still doesn't work then the keyboard controller might be broken, which means the MB is destined for the scrap heap.
