i am using fedora 9: 2.6.25-14.fc9.i686. New to linux, fedora and to this forum.
Till last month there was a discussion going on on weird fedora logout problem that ended giving no solutions. This is the link:

I have the same problem. A freshly booted computer switches to the other user but after sometime if you like to switch it logs out but doesnot show anything on screen. The cursor is there for a while but doesnot respond to the keyboard. The only thing you do is reboot.

its really frustrating

I'm not bashing Fedora 9 but it must be the most unreliable release in years. I was having similar issues and ended up installing a different distro. It used to be fun fixing all those issues but nowadays I keep it simple: either it works or it doesn't.
