Doesn't everyone find MSVPC to run incredibly slowly? I've only ever used it under OSX and it ran like a dog compared to VMWare on XP....

Yup

Nice to hear that MSVPC is actually able to execute other OSes than their own. Sorry if i sounded somewhat desillusioned regarding MS products, but considering the load of sh*t they've thrown at law-abiding citizens over the years, i feel i'm excused. It appears that everywhere MS is, there's trouble. Lawsuits, conflicts, trials, it's a regular warzone.

Which BTW is one of my primary reasons to NOT endorse them. They've got one seriously bad case of nonexisting business-ethics to show, and i flatly refuse to hand 'em any ammunition in the form of money.

But this is an entirely different topic.

Regarding 'people who are *way* to quick to ask questions in forums' i believe the way to go is to politely ask for more info, thus forcing them to either RTFM and do some experimentation - or reveal themselves as 'not prepared'.

Remember, these people are often newcomers to Linux, and they are most likely somewhere at the bottom of a learning curve. Give 'em some rope. We wouldn't want these newcomers to Linux to feel bad about asking questions, right?

On the other hand; repeatedly seeing someone asking plain old *silly* questions, and having politely asked them th RTFM, there comes a time...

People are saying that you can install fedora using virtual pc 2004, can I use this as an alternative to booting from disk as it isn't working for me. If so, how? I haven't used virtual pc before but have just installed it.

Did you run MSVPC on a PPC Mac ?

If YES: ofcourse it's a lot slower, because there is a huge speed penalty in translating x86 code to PPC.

I do not know if there is a NATIVE Intel-Mac version of MSVPC...otherwise it runs under the Rosetta-emulation of OSX and that also causes a major speed penalty.

I haven't used virtual pc 2004 in a year or so, since I now use virtual server and/or vmware to install multiple operating systems on my xp box. I do remember that with virtual pc 2004, installing Fedora I had to use cd's and not the single dvd image. Other than that, its pretty simple - define the vm and boot up the installer.

OK, I understand what you mean except defining the vm, do you mean virtual memory? I used the DOS and other option to try to install it from CD, but i get disk errors just like i do when i try to boot from disk. I've tried with 2 disks so i don't think its the contents and 4 cd drives so i don't think its that :/

by vm, I meant the virtual machine and in the case of vpc2004 that means installing as "Other" as I recall.

I done that other options, with and without a virtual hard drive, it still doesn't work, I remember I got disk error 20 which is different to the disk error on the boot up.
