very confused about XF86Config and second monitor, CRT and DFP

hey crew.
i have a very strange situation happening with my X bizo. i just recently got myself a LCD TFT monitor to reprace a CRT that has been dominating my desk space. it has both an Analog and a DVI input.
i have had a dual head set up for a while now, using two CRT's with my Nvidia ti4200. thus far things have been fine. however since getting my LCD a series of odd things have been occuring.
when i plug in the DVI port to the first port of the video card the monitors swap around from their original setting, ie monitor0 becomes monitor1 and vice versa. i attempted to swap the monitor and screen configurations round in as many different combinations as i could think of but for some weird reason it doesn't like me. the DVI port is "always" behaving as monitor1/screen1 but i need it to be monitor0/screen0. however if i use a digital to analog convertor on the connection from my video card and plug it into the analog port of my monitor (Philips 150P2E) there is no ploblem and it behaves the way that it should!

i suspect it has something to do with the way that the nvidia driver detects digital monitors. i attempted to overide this detection with the "option "connectedmonitor(s)"" choices in the XF86Config-4 file but i have exhausted all possiblities and configurations that i can think of.

could someone please suggest something please.
cheers
tom

Have you tried using "TwinViewOrientation" to set the relationship between the screens?

Setting it to "DFP-0 LeftOf CRT-0" should place them like you describe, if I've followed you.

yep
tried that and it still didn't understand what i am talking about. it still puts my DFP on at screen1....
plus i don't want to use "TwinView". just two separate x setups.
thanks tho.
